I am looking to stream a live webcam on my website. Appreciating that I am new to web design, so answering in as simple terms as possible, can anyone give me any advice on how I would go about streaming live to my website.

There are a few important things to consider when doing this. I would rather give you a link that will take you step by step. Why? You need to consider File formats, streaming types, then whether you will use a host server or your own.

If you go to stickam.com they give you a code for embedding the stickam player into your website.

Thanks for the help!!
![]() For anyone else having this problem, using stickam to have a webcam feed onto my website really was easy. Just copy & paste the code from their site. You have to stream the feed from their site, but it gets shown on your website no problem. I won't have it on 24 hours, but to see what it looks like, I have my webcam at http://www.jrosworld.com/webcam.html. Last edited by ScottHalliday; 08-27-2008 at 09:20 PM.. |

Glad to hear you're all set.
Just a suggestion for you. Add a little more information to your title tags on your web pages. For the Index page maybe add Quote:
(hint: do some research on STOP words) I'm sure you can come up with something that fits you better. Google love titles, but just be careful to make it legit as they can tell when people are spamming. Having a title such as that one you could eventually place in the search engine result pages for terms like "Trip around the world, "World Travel Logs", "Before College traveling", and to have your friends find you very easy just say search for J'ros Travel Logs... to see my cool new photos!" People sometimes have a hard time remembering long URLS (which yours is not long at all ... yours is perfect), but search terms seem to stick with people. Descriptions are good too, maybe something like... Quote:
Try to be as descriptive as possible without spamming. Do this to all of your pages, and I think you'll do well. People that travel would like to see what you have to say ... so let them find you by adding complete title and descriptions to each page. Just my 2 cents ![]()

"name" is the name of the type of tag such as "Description" or "Keywords"
Such as... Lets use this meta name called "description" when we place it within < and /> we are opening and closing our tags. Meta Tags These are used by Search Engine Spiders (googlebot, Yahoo, and others). The information within a meta tag offers up helpful information about you, and you websites contents. Examples: <meta name="Description" content="A young mans trip around the world. Read Jros travel logs, view his photos, and vidoes. /> <meta name="Keywords" content="each, word, or phrase is, relevant, to, your, website, such, as, traveling, photos, video, diary, logs, south america, jros journeys, video maps" /> There is some question as to meta keywords these days, but I still like to use them. ALL of the keywords you use should be used somewhere within your websites content. Example if you use the keyword "boat ride" and there is no phrase "boat ride" within your web page content it could count against you with some search engines. The point is to be relevant and write for people, not search engines. Good luck with your travels & website. ![]()
