Default Adwords

Has anyone used Adwords to get traffic for their site?

I've used it with success adverting a local service business.

Actually, some keywords go A LOT higher than $12. I know of some with price tags in $60 - $70 per click range. The price of a click depends on what the other bidders are willing to pay for it. On some of the client accounts that I manage they pay well over $20 click for some keywords.

The nice part about adwords is that you can very easily set a daily budget. Say you set your budget to $1 day. When your click costs reach $1 your ads stop being displayed until the next cycle, in this case about 24 hours away. With Adwords you really can pick what you want to spend.

It's a great program for small and big budget advertisers alike.

Insurance, real estate, law, medical...anyone who stands to make a hefty profit off of the potential sale.

Most of those advertisors don't allow their ads to display on the content sites anyway so it doesn't do a whole lot of good to build sites just for the purpose of hosting high priced Adwords.

The most I will go per click is about $1 but I try to find non competitive keyword searches where I can keep my PPC low. Especially on keywords not woth spending time to SEO on. Worth to pay .05-.10 for those visitors...

I do the same thing. I have quite a few 0.05 campaigns going with Adwords all the time. Trying to SEOO for all those terms and phrases would be a pain.

This is the best approach IMO. Specific search terms will not only be cheaper but will also bring more focussed visitors, and be more likely to get you a sale.

I have done promotion for the company I work for using Overture, Findwhat, Kanoodle, Banner advertisements on more than 20 different sites, E-Mail Newsletters etc. We have found that google AdWords has the best return on investment of any advertising we have done. We now spend more than $1000/month on AdWords and will probably expand more. The 2nd best performing advertising we do is a CPC business.com listing, but AdWords return is almost double that of business.com.

One note, we have done extensive testing of the content network to promote several of our businesses. Returns on content network traffic are much less than search and as such we have discontinued all promotion on the content network.

I've been thinking about doing this too. Has it been worth it in your experience?
